Still Here,
But Gone
(2022)

My Opa was a hobbyist photographer/videographer, but made his money as a machinery business owner. I spent months digitizing his thousands of photos and Super8 films after he passed.

Here is my first collaboration with my Opa, titled ๐™Ž๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ก๐™ก ๐™ƒ๐™š๐™ง๐™š, ๐˜ฝ๐™ช๐™ฉ ๐™‚๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™š.
Music by The Bright Light Social Hour, โ€œSlipstreamโ€.

This video is a piece of my psyche. My anxiety, my joy, my sensuality, my unwavering desire to look deeper into myself. This video is my too-late-realized need to connect more with my family. I unfortunately never got to talk to my Opa about his photography and videography. We talked mostly about business and career planning. I am so thankful for his influence on me.

The Super8 footage projected over me was shot by Ulrich Both in various places I hope to travel. Some are: Mallorca, Mexico, Morocco, Madrid, Hawaii, Arizona. Thereโ€™s also footage of my dad parasailing & surfing in Ocean City, NJ, as well as the German-American Stueben Parade, and some home movies from Christmas, 1972.

Thanks for watching.
